With a view to limiting the environmental impact of its operations, in its strategy for 2011–2015 the LOTOS Group envisages that it will exclusively implement environmentally-friendly technologies, based on the best available solutions characterised by low emissions and highly efficient production processes.

The LOTOS Group’s strategy along with development directions until 2020 account also for changes in the Polish and European environmental legislation. The changes set the general direction of the industry’s transformation, by forcing the industry to significantly reduce its environmental impact in the form of emissions of CO2, SO2, nitric oxides and dust, both in the process of production and use of products.

Respect for the principles of sustainable development is manifested in our constant commitment to using state-of-the art technologies, involving solutions intended to minimise emissions thanks to materials and energy saving processes, which ensure low consumption of electricity, water and non-renewable resources. Our water and waste recovery rates (more than 45% and more than 90%, respectively) confirm the effectiveness of our environmental efforts.

In cooperation with local authorities and social organisations engaged in environmental protection, we are taking a number of measures aimed to maintain the best possible environmental standards in the areas influenced by our operations. These initiatives include our cooperation with the Agency of Regional Air Quality Monitoring in the Gdańsk Agglomeration. The goal of the joint efforts is to develop, maintain and improve the regional air quality monitoring in the Gdańsk agglomeration and in Tczew, while its effect is the enhanced system of air quality information and assessment of the impact of various emission sources on air quality.
